Trip level explained

Level 1

Easy

This is a relaxed trip that is mostly cultural exploration with a dash of activity. The camel trek, though a little uncomfortable, is easy and fun for most travellers. Any other hiking is optional and entirely up to whether you want to join or not.

Remote environment: factors to consider

Some parts of this trip take place in areas where access to medical facilities and emergency services may be limited. This may mean that reaching medical care takes longer than you might normally expect, or that local medical facilities have fewer resources than those you may be used to at home.

If someone becomes unwell or injured, initial treatment may be provided locally before onward travel to a larger hospital or city for further care. Evacuation could involve changing the planned route or using different forms of transport to reach appropriate medical facilities. Mobile phone coverage may also be intermittent in some locations.

Your guide is trained to manage situations in remote environments and will monitor the group and respond appropriately if any issues arise. However, it’s important that you let your guide know straight away if you feel unwell or experience any health concerns during the trip.

Before booking, consider your personal health and ability to travel in locations where access to medical care may be delayed. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or concerns, we recommend seeking advice from a medical professional and discussing them with your host before travelling.

All travellers must have suitable travel insurance that covers the activities included in the trip and emergency medical evacuation if required.

In a word: Fantastic! I'm usually an adventurer who prefers active vacations that include kayaking/hiking/surfing, but for this trip I really wanted to see and experience a sampling of Morocco, rather than stick around one place, and this adventure surely delivered! Every day included new sights and short hikes/walks. Our guide Mustapha and driver Ahmed were so wonderful and took great care of us. If and when we wanted to see something, eat something different, or make a stop, they happily accommodated and found us (what felt like) authentic experiences throughout the trip. Accommodations were beautiful, coffee was plentiful, and our tiny group had plenty of laughs! As other reviews note, there is ample time in the car, but Mustapha ensured that we had hikes at the end of each day which really helped. To be able to see all that we did, it was totally worth it and our tiny group had a great time chatting and dancing in the car to Moroccan music with Ahmed! I do recommend to travelers that you book an extra day at the front or back end of your trip so you have time to explore Marrakech!

Driver Karim was reallly lovely, always smiling. . Great driver and I always felt safe on the road. The organisation was fabulous, instructions were clear, transitions between places and activities seemless and the mix of activities eg viewpoints, fossil factory, dressing as Berber, walks, camel ride (with option to return on quad bikes) was just right. I thought time in vehicle would drive me crazy but it is broken up with frequent planned stops and, just watching the change in the surroundings as you move south is amazing. Hussain the guide had excellent English, positive personality and was very informative and made the experience fun. He was always willing and able to answer questions and give insight into life in Morrocco. Fabulous guide. We also had a group that gelled which added to the experience 😄 Absolutely recommend this company and trip.

Amazing trip. People all very friendly, helpful and the itinerary was perfect. Would highly recommend, if you're in any doubt of booking this trip there is no reason to have any.

Nice and lovely traveling experience to mark my first visit to Africa. The local people are lovely and the group is a bunch of great people. I definitely like the experience and would recommend it.

This tour was excellent - a good range of activities, a great group, and good accommodation. There was a fair amount of walking, up steep hills in some places, but still easily managed in sandals. The desert activities were second to none, with options to do more if desired - I chose to do quad biking with a small group and I would highly recommend it. The reason I haven't given five stars is that communication with the on-ground organisers was not great. The first evening the host said hello and we were left to our own devices not knowing what was provided and what we had to pay extra for. There wasn't much of a welcome speech, and throughout the tour I found we had to ask a lot of questions to get information I would have assumed would be provided - e. g. , what's for dinner, how long are we stopping here, what's the significance of this site etc. I would definitely recommend this trip but be prepared to ask a lot of questions to understand what's going on!

We had a great time on this road trip. Morroco is a beautiful country. All accomodation and food included in the trip was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the hotel in the Dades valley. Stunning views from the balconies. The desert camp was also a highlight. I would recommend doing the quad bike ride which is an option leaving the desert camp. Our guide Hussein and driver Hassan were both wonderful. Hussein was extremely thoughtful and considerate. Hassan was a brilliant driver. We felt in excellent hands. The days on this trip, (mostly spent in a van), were very long. Early starts and you didn't get to the hotel until late afternoon/early evening. But breaks were always included thoughtfully by Hussein. So if you don't enjoy long hours on the road, this trip is not for you.

This was my fifth trip with MBA. Unfortunately for us the trip was overall just okay, neither particularly disappointing nor especially memorable. While there were a few enjoyable moments, such as camel riding, sunset experience in the dessert and glamping in the dessert, nothing truly stood out as exceptional. Some aspects felt a bit underwhelming, whether it was the accommodation, the organisation or communication. That said, it wasn’t a bad experience by any means. Everything ran relatively smoothly, and there were no major issues. It just didn’t quite live up to expectations or offer anything particularly unique. In the end, it was an average trip, pleasant enough, but not one I’d be eager to repeat or highly recommend. The overall experience with the travel company (Aztec)was significantly impacted by poor communication, especially changing Riads at the last minute, which meant the group were separate on the first night. Important details were either not shared in a timely manner or required repeated follow-ups to obtain. This lack of clear and proactive communication created confusion and uncertainty throughout the process. It would greatly improve the customer experience if the company were more responsive, transparent, and consistent in providing updates and information. The trip involved long periods of driving and the mini bus felt cramped and uncomfortable, for the group size. Luckily we had a great bunch of people in our group! Whilst our guide was efficient and got us safely around Morocco, it would have been more enjoyable learning more about the country and its cultures, especially on our long drives. The only interaction we had was once we stopped for comfort breaks. Also, they did not join us for lunches / dinners and we often didn’t know the set up at the places we stopped at for lunch. In summing up, my lasting feeling is the trip is a normal tourist trip on a bus and nothing like what I have experienced previously with MBA, where trips are done in a way that you don’t feel like a tourist but you are visiting amazing places.

The Sahara and the Gorges were worth all the arse numbing driving. It is stunning and the people are so warm. Our guide Hussain and our driver Hassan were great and we felt very well taken care of. What was not great was the communication and any sense of welcoming from the local contractor, Aztat. We were never properly welcomed on the first day and last day in Marrakech and getting information from Mouna, the Aztat contact was tricky. And no real send off from her too. Very odd for Ă  your company. The first Riad, Aymane, was a bit of a letdown, with grotty towels and rooms that hardly had any space to unpack Ă  bag. Having said that, the people who run it are warm and lovely. But once we left Marrakech and were in the hands of Hussain, everything else, the sights, the Riads on the road, the camel trip and the luxury desert camp, were superb.

  • Amazing trip but on a short side

    Sanita G. February 2026
This is a relatively short trip with a lot of time spent on the road so if you get travel sick or don’t or can’t sit in one place for long, bear that in mind and be prepared. Plus is that you see a lot of the country as you pass by and enjoy different locations, scenery is stunning and changes a lot throughout the journey. Our guide Husain and the driver were the best we could wish for, nothing was too much trouble and they both took great care for us, especially when most of the group got sick on the last day. Be careful of what you eat and drink but this is the case in most foreign travel destinations and is expected. You don’t spend a lot of time in Marrakech so maybe allow extra time to wrap around this trip if you wish to explore it more. Not a lot of time is spent exploring places, you spend a lot of time getting from one to another but that’s probably because there’s a lot of distance to cover. This would be my only negative of the trip, perhaps adding another day would be beneficial. All in all, very well organised and thought of, excellent communication, all went smoothly. I would certainly recommend it for an introduction to the country.
  • Amazing!

    Lisa W. December 2025
This was an amazing trip with a brilliant guide, Houssain, and driver, Hassan, and a great group of people to enjoy it with. Because of the amount of miles to cover there is a lot of time in the bus, but this is well documented in the write up, But Houssain always made sure we had a chance for a walk each day. All brilliantly organised.
  • Fantastic adventure with great people!

    Chris W. December 2025
We saw it all. . . Kasbahs, Desert, Atlas Mountains, river gorges and plenty of interesting photo stops. The guide and driver were fantastic. Everything went like clockwork and we have new friends that we’ve already planned to meet up with back in the UK.
  • A great experience!

    Miranda A. December 2025
We had a wonderful time on this trip. From start to finish we felt very well looked after. The guide was fantastic, kind and knowledgeable and our driver took great care of us all. The highlight was camping in the Sahara, which is an experience we will never forget.
  • Amazing trip to Morocco

    Tom D. December 2025
We had a great time in an amazing country. Great food, hotels and sights. Sleeping in the Sahara and quad biking in the desert were particular highlights. Hussein was a perfect guide, so friendly and knowledgeable. Hassan was an amazing driver, also incredibly friendly and went out of his way to help us out on numerous occasions. Felt like we got so much for what we paid, will definitely be going on a Much Better Adventure again!
  • An Epic Desert adventure!

    Shruti S. December 2025
This trip absolutely exceeded my expectations. Stunning landscapes. . from sprawling deserts to snow capped mountains, lush valleys and tall gorges. Our guide Houssain was so amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure that everyone was comfortable. Our driver Hassan was fabulous, navigating the winding roads with ease. The trip does involve a lot of time on the road, as the description rightly says, but it is worth it considering the wide variety of landscapes that we saw in less than a week. Even though the drives were long, the guide and driver made sure to factor in timely stops for restroom use, a nice stretch and some coffee or refreshing Moroccan tea. We were very well fed throughout the trip, and even though I am a vegetarian, I had no shortage of food options. We had sumptuous meals even in the middle of the desert! Lastly, the Riad staff Mouna and Assia were so friendly and welcoming. They made us feel right at home and took care of all the airport transfers and other logistics. Tips : make sure to carry sufficient cash as a lot of places don't accept cards. Definitely recommend the Quad bike ride. It is additional to be paid but worth every penny. The absolute highlight of this trip. Would definitely recommend this adventure.
  • Fantastic desert adventure

    Nancy W. November 2025
Thoroughly enjoyed this trip and the desert was just as unforgettable and beautiful as I hoped. As is made clear in the trip notes, there is a lot of time on the road but our driver (Hasan) and guide (Housein) ensured that it was a comfortable trip with lots of interesting stops on the way. Accommodation was varied and interesting. It might be helpful for future travelers thinking about budgeting to know that drinks are not usually included with the group meals (apart from breakfast) and these cost between 10 and 30 Moroccan (for water/soft drinks).
  • Superb Saharan SoirĂ©e

    Sarah S. October 2025
Saharan sand, spectacular sunsets and sparking skies of stars - what more could you ask for? I chose the trip specifically for the night in the Sahara, and it didn’t disappoint. The Sahara Desert is incredible - it looks exactly how it looks on films and TV, which I sort of didn’t expect! Riding in on the camel and back out again on the quad bikes were a highlight. You have to pay extra for the quad bikes but it is well worth it. That said, the trip itself is very good value with accommodation, food and transport (including camels) included. Can’t finish the review without mentioning the ‘dream team’ that is Houssein and Hassan. Hassan’s driving through the winding roads was superb, and every morning when we got back in the minibus it was completely spotless! Houseein was a brilliant guide with the right balance of knowledge and humour and was incredibly kind when I was feeling under the weather one day. Great trip, a group that was entertaining in many ways and a lifetime of memories. If you asked me ‘would you do another trip with MBA’? I would reply, as they say in Morocco, ‘yalla’ - let’s go! Although I’d maybe choose one with slightly less driving next time!
  • Travelled solo but felt part

    Ben L. October 2025
Travelled solo but felt part of the group on the first day, there was a good mixture of solo and people travelling together. everything was very well organised for us and couldn’t fault either of our guides who were great throughout, very friendly and accommodating. The accommodation in the riads, hotel and camping was all fantastic and we were fed well the throughout. I had a cracking trip and met some lovely people on the way, well worth booking yourself into it!

A beautiful trip to the dessert and the Atlas mountains! A bit too long on the road but it was worth it.
  • Great first-time trip to Morocco!

    Barbara M. October 2025
This tour was a wonderful introduction to the country. The Sahara glamping night was absolutely the highlight — I’d even suggest making it longer! The rest of the itinerary was more about getting there and back rather than sightseeing, and there’s no Marrakesh city tour included. Be aware that the drives are long and there’s very little walking at the stops. Accommodation is quite basic (expect hard mattresses or small issues like leaking taps), but the hosts are warm and welcoming. Our guide, Hossain, was excellent – caring, organized, and attentive throughout. The driver was also fantastic – I felt completely safe on the winding Atlas roads, and the car was always clean. Overall, a great experience and a good way to start exploring Morocco! 🌅

Having never travelled with an organised group before, this trip was an opportunity to travel differently, and Morocco was the perfect location for it. Travelling with MBA allowed me to see so much more, and do so much more, than I would have otherwise. Overall, the trip ran smoothly, and while the accommodation varied in quality it was always clean with welcoming staff. Of course the night in the camp was the highlight! Being able to see the milky way and shooting stars was a real 'pinch me' moment. The long drives pass quickly, we weren't in the van for more than a couple of hours at a time, so it never felt too oppressive. I would recommend bringing a fan, as the air con wasn't working well, making the back of the van rather uncomfortable in the heat. Our guide and driver kept us well stocked with water - and gave plenty of opportunities for coffee! The food was functional, with generous portion sizes but slightly bland and repetitive. It would have been good to learn more about the country, the people and the culture, particularly as our guide was so knowledgeable. In hindsight, I would have read more about Morocco before travelling, as this would have helped me ask more questions. To others out there who are used to travelling solo and are unsure whether a group thing is for you: give it a go.

We had a great trip, the description is accurate, lots of travel, stunning scenery to admire, the Riads were quirky comfortable with aircon. Camel ride in the Sahara desert is one of the highlights of the trip.

I went to Morocco for this trip in early March. It was my first trip with MBA and definitely won't be my last. The organisation and communication was excellent and tbe trip itself really great. There were 11 of us. Three sets of two who knew each other and the remainder travelling alone. The guide and driver were absolutely brilliant, very friendly approachable and knowledgeable. I arrived in Marakech the night before so spent the morning of the next day exploring for myself and similarly had the last day to visit places in Marakech before my evening flight. The road trip itself was very interesting and lots to see looking out of the window and at the stops we made every 3 hours or so. The minibus was comfortable and lots of information given. I was really well looked after by the guide when I succumbed to a brief bout of vomiting (no one else had ghe same so I was just unlucky). So definitely a 10/10 trip for those not quite sure they can do a moderate rated trip. I'm 58 and reasonably fit and would certainly recommend this is a taster of the varied landscapes in Morocco

This was my first trip with MBA, and I have to say they didn't disappoint - the trip was fantastic and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Marrakesh needs at least a day to explore, so I would recommend adding a day to your itinerary to make sure that you do it justice - the Medinas and Souks are a maze, easy to get lost but so interesting seeing craftsmen making shoes, jewellery, clothes etc - although everyone you engaged with wanted to sell you something! The adventure was superb with a great variety of scenery and landscapes from the Atlas mountains, gorges, remote villages and the vastness and colour of the Sahara desert. Our guide and driver Houssain/Hassan were very knowledgeable and accommodating to us all, stopping numerous times at scenic spots for photos and anything we wanted to explore - highlight for me was the camel journey into the camp, the site of a camel train being led by their guide across a dune in front of me at 6am was breathtaking. There is obviously a lot of time in the minibus, the longest day was 7 hours and 375 miles and in total we covered 875 miles in the four days, but if you want to see everything that is unavoidable and well worth the time.

We’ve just finished this trip with MBA and it was epic! We got to see the real Morocco: the craziness of Marrakech, the tiny Berber villages in the mountains, the dramatic gorges and of course the amazing Sahara desert. We had a fab group of 8 who all became a little “blended family”all overseen by our guide - the delightful Hussein and his sidekick driver Hassan - love you guys! Hotels and food are great, you will become a tagine expert by the end of the trip and the night in the desert is unforgettable. Tip - take the quad bikes back, you won’t regret it. 10/10 don’t think just book!
  • Marvellous Moroccan Adventure!!

What an incredible experience!! This trip is truly amazing, it’s a wonderful way to experience all that Morocco has to offer, from the majestic Atlas Mountains, the endless views and beautiful oasis along The Caravan Route, to the tranquil yet harsh beauty of the red sands of the Sahara, plus all the stops along the way, this is one not to miss. Our guide and driver were brilliant, making for a seamless experience, the locals we met along the way, so friendly and always wanting to help, the food was a highlight, we ate like kings at every meal, my adventure companions were a fab group. I can honestly say that this was one of the best trips I have done.

Fun, easy going, interesting and more fun! Literally had the best time, met the best people including our tour guide and driver. It’s a well planned trip and we stuck to the schedule. Accommodation was good, Food was delicious, sightseeing was unreal. Couldn’t have asked for a better 5 days. Well worth the money and would highly recommend. My mum and stepdad have also added it to their list! Thanks 🙏

FAQs

Sure can. If you would like to leave anything in Marrakech, your host will look after this for you.

Ramadan is expected to take place from 17th February to 19th March 2026. The national holiday of Eid ul-Fitr will follow for 2-3 days. Ramadan is an Islamic festival where the religious do not eat or drink during daylight hours. While this is a really interesting time to travel, especially to witness celebrations where the fast is broken in the evenings, you can expect some business hours will be shortened, alcohol is not permitted during daylight hours and some restaurants will be closed during this festival period. Activities for local people tend to be limited during the day and the nights are very active in cities with lots of different foods being sold and consumed. Ramadan will not affect the inclusions on your trip, although you should be aware that dinners will be served after locals break their fast in the evenings.

This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme highs, where limited shade and high humidity can also be a factor. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but hydration, proper clothing, and sun protection are essential.

Before travelling, consider your ability to be active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have concerns – especially if you have any cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two prior to the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.

The desert can get quite hot, with daytime temperatures averaging 15 - 40°C from March to October, and 5 - 20°C from November to February. Nighttime temperatures drop significantly and can even approach freezing in the winter. As much as 10mm of rain can fall in any month, particularly from October to January, but generally the desert is dry.

In the summer (June, July, August), daytime temperatures have been known to approach 45°C on occasions in the desert and in the towns and cities on this trip, so please ensure that you come prepared with sun protection, light and airy clothing and electrolytes/rehydration solutions if travelling at this time of year. If it becomes unsafe to camp in the desert due to extreme summer temperatures, your host will accommodate you in a nearby hotel instead.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 296kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
