Throughout the expedition you will experience genuine Bedouin hospitality as your skilled crew prepare delicious meals to fuel you in the mornings and replenish the calories you’ve burned during the day. For breakfasts on the trek, expect eggs, cheese, halva (a Middle Eastern sweet made of sesame flour and honey), jam, labneh (strained yogurt, more like a soft cheese) naan bread, hummus, dates, coffee and tea. You’ll make your own packed lunch each morning before setting off for the day. This will often be a sandwich with a variety of fillings, plus fruit, snacks and chocolate to keep you going. Dinners usually consist of a main dish, such as maqluba (stewed meat with spices served with rice and fried vegetables), alongside another veggies-only stew pot, served with different salads. Rice will be the main dish of the whole trip, cooked in so many different ways that you’ll never get bored of it.
For breakfast at the hotels expect a buffet typical of 3-star hotel breakfasts all over the world. Lunches during the non-expedition sections will generally be buffet style at local cafes and will cost approx $10pp. Dinner (where not included) will be at local restaurants and will cost approx $15-$20pp. Your guide will be with you to make suggestions of where to eat and to arrange group meals.
Vegetarians, vegans and other dietary requirements and allergies can be catered for – please just let your host know at the time of booking.
