Welcome to Albania! Meet your host in Tirana (either at the airport or in the city) for the transfer south to the spectacular Llogara National Park. Your journey will take you via the salt pans of the Narta Lagoon, the historic city of Vlore and along scenic, panoramic roads. Nestled in the heart of the Ceraunian Mountains, Llogara National Park is an important biosphere reserve, famous for its ancient and beautifully-shaped black pines and firs trees which overlook the shimmering Albanian Riviera’s Ionian shore. Settle into your cosy mountain hotel, get to know your fellow adventurers and enjoy a hearty meal while you hear all about the itinerary ahead.

After a hearty breakfast, a short transfer takes you to the trailhead which lies at the highest point of the Llogara Pass, opposite Cika and Qorre peaks. A wide gravel path steadily leads to the radio towers at the ridge, where you can marvel at the lush green slopes of the Karaburun Peninsula plunging steeply into the deep blue Ionian Sea below. Panoramic views of the rugged Albanian Riviera and the Bay of Vlore will accompany you throughout today's hike along the spine of the peninsula. A rocky path climbs up to Mount Gjipali (1446m), where you can take a lofty picnic break and contemplate the harsh beauty of the entire coastline. Next, descend to a mountain pasture and enter the Deep Pass, a rainforest-like green corridor that offers generous shade for a well-deserved break. After the hike, transfer back to your mountain hotel where you can relax for the remainder of the day before dinner in the evening.

This morning you'll swap the mountains for the sea as you descend down to the coast by transfer, before setting off for your second spectacular hike. You'll cross cliffs and follow trails through Mediterranean macchia from one dazzling beach to another. It is by no means a flat walk, but it offers the perfect mix of hiking and swimming along the stunning beaches of the Albanian Riviera. Begin in the picturesque coastal village of Vuno, with its white houses and centuries-old orthodox churches stacked up the hillside. Continue with an idyllic descent through olive groves leading to the secluded Aquarium Beach, then follow the red-earth trail until Livadhi Bay accompanied by the sound of the crashing waves. End your day in the beautiful seaside town of Himare, which remains tranquil and has shepherds roaming the hills, ancient olive groves and abandoned castle ruins overlooking the bay. Here, you'll check in to a local guesthouse, which will be your base for the next three nights.

  4. Day 4

Today you'll explore a lesser-known part of the Albanian Riviera. After breakfast, you'll head south for 45 minutes to the stunning coastal mountains facing the mighty Ionian Sea. From Lukova, follow a steep shepherd’s path which takes you towards a ridge, with views of the terraced hills plunging into the turquoise sea. Soon, Corfu appears on the horizon and as you traverse the pass, you can admire the wild inland landscapes of this pristine corner of Albania. Hike amongst oaks and blooming wildflowers (in season), then descend a wide, exposed gravel trail which immerses you in the captivating coastal views all the way down to the village of Piqeras. In the afternoon, transfer back to Himare for some optional beach time and enjoy a free evening in one of the many lively tavernas in town, or sample a few cocktails by the beach.

    Day 5

    Hike through Mediterranean back country

Start the day with a scenic drive which takes you at the foot of Kudhes. Follow the winding road through olive trees and local houses into the heart of the village, and enjoy a coffee in the company of the friendly locals. Next, set off hiking along the rocky shepherd's trail lined with bright pink oleanders and lush green cypress trees. You may be greeted by flocks of curious goats as you climb up to the green terraced fields above the hamlet, with breathtaking views opening up to the deep blue sea and over to the island of Corfu. Reach the old town of Qeparo and stroll its maze of cobbled streets and ancient stone houses, enjoying the tranquillity of this authentic Albanian village where time seems to stand still. From here, continue on above the shoreline, across the hillside towards Borsh, soaking up the stunning landscape a little longer. Enjoy one final night in Himare tonight, as you transfer back to Tirana after your final hike tomorrow.

    Day 6

Gear up for a big day. Your final hike takes you to the southern side of the Riviera once more. Starting 30km south of Himare, in Lukova, you'll walk by flower-adorned houses, down old cobblestone alleys and past a small waterfall. Continue through endless terraces of olive groves, followed by a smooth descent all the way to Bunec Beach where the open skyline, tranquil sea, and the unusual emptiness of the pebbly shore will make it hard to resist a refreshing swim! Hike through the flora of the hillside, soaking up the Mediterranean aromas as Borsh Beach slowly comes into view. Cool off with one more swim before parting ways with the Ionian Sea. This afternoon you'll transfer back to Tirana (via the mountains and Llogara Pass) for your final night in Albania's vibrant capital. Celebrate the end of your adventure with a group farewell dinner in the city. Cheers!

On Day 1, you can choose to be picked up either from Tirana Airport, or from Tirana's Rinas Bus Station if you're already in town. If you’re flying in on the first day of the trip, please make sure you book a flight that lands by 13:20 at the latest. Your host will confirm transfer details before your trip, but the group transfer to Llogara National Park (which takes 3 – 3.5 hours) is generally scheduled for early- to mid-afternoon, after all morning flights have landed.

Airport transfers between your accommodation in the city and the airport are included for any time you choose to depart on Day 7. These are booked in advance to pick you up around three hours before your flight.

If you are arriving or departing outside these times or days, getting to Tirana city from the airport can easily be arranged locally. You can take a taxi direct from the airport (between €25-30), or you can take the Rinas Express shuttle bus. Rinas Express tickets cost around 400 Albanian Lek (Euros are also accepted) and you can simply get on the bus and buy your ticket. The journey takes 30 minutes and departs from the airport every hour, on the hour from 06:00 in the morning until 24:00 in the evening. The drop-off point is Skanderbeg Square, Tirana's central square, which is around a 10-15 minute walk away from your hotel. Alternatively, your host can arrange private airport transfers for an extra cost. Extra nights at the accommodation can also be added. See Optional Extras for more details.

Food and Dietary info

The Albanian Riviera sees Mediterranean and Balkan influences bringing an array of flavoursome dishes to the region, and the proximity to the gorgeous Ionian Sea guarantees freshly caught fish such as grilled sea bass, shrimp pasta and calamari. The town of Himare has some of the best food options the area: Greek, Italian and Mediterranean restaurants line the beach promenade, serving gyros, moussaka, salads, meat dishes and fresh vegetables from the nearby terraced hills. The food options in Logara National Park tend to be heartier and more reliant on meat, but are still fresh and delicious. Dinner is always a warm and filling meal after a big day of hiking, and there are a couple of nights where this is not included to give you the chance to try out some local tavernas in town. Trip level explained

Level 3

Moderate

You'll be hiking three to five hours each day, with up to 600m of elevation gain on one of the days. The hikes are a combination of easier, medium-duration walks and slightly more challenging, but shorter treks. Some trails are loose and rocky underfoot and you'll have to be prepared for the occasional steep climb. Keep in mind that hot weather may make activities more strenuous than expected, however the pace will be leisurely with many opportunities for cool dips at stunning beaches (sea and weather conditions permitting), as well as refreshment stops in charming local villages – the perfect way to really soak up the beauty of this part of Albania! While previous hiking experience is not necessary, it is desirable, but good health and a reasonable level of fitness overall are more important so that you enjoy the experience to the fullest. If you don't exercise regularly, please consider factoring in some moderate physical activity in the weeks leading up to the trip to ensure you're ready to enjoy the experience.

What if i need to skip an activity?

You can always opt out of some hikes should you prefer to take the trip at a slower pace. If you would like to skip an activity just speak to your guide who can make alternative arrangements or recommendations for you.

What will I need to carry?

You'll need to have a larger bag suitable for all your belongings which will be transported for you, and then a small daysack to carry personal items during each day of hiking.

Climate Factors To Consider

This trip visits locations where daytime temperatures can be extremely high during the times of year when this trip operates. High humidity and limited access to shade can also be factors, and warm temperatures can continue into the nighttime, which additionally influence the body’s ability to cool down. Personal care should be taken to keep as cool as possible in the conditions, such as wearing appropriate clothing and proper hydration. Very high temperatures can impair an individual’s physical abilities to perform an activity that they may otherwise be able to do competently at cooler temperatures. People may experience symptoms associated with dehydration and Heat Stroke. Your guide(s) are trained to mitigate the risks associated with high temperatures, by carefully managing the intensity of the activity, and to provide the appropriate support response should someone feel ill during the trip. Should you experience health issues during your trip you should inform your guide immediately so the proper care can be provided.

Remote environment: factors to consider

Some parts of this trip take place in areas where access to medical facilities and emergency services may be limited. This may mean that reaching medical care takes longer than you might normally expect, or that local medical facilities have fewer resources than those you may be used to at home.

If someone becomes unwell or injured, initial treatment may be provided locally before onward travel to a larger hospital or city for further care. Evacuation could involve changing the planned route or using different forms of transport to reach appropriate medical facilities. Mobile phone coverage may also be intermittent in some locations.

Your guide is trained to manage situations in remote environments and will monitor the group and respond appropriately if any issues arise. However, it’s important that you let your guide know straight away if you feel unwell or experience any health concerns during the trip.

Before booking, consider your personal health and ability to travel in locations where access to medical care may be delayed. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or concerns, we recommend seeking advice from a medical professional and discussing them with your host before travelling.

All travellers must have suitable travel insurance that covers the activities included in the trip and emergency medical evacuation if required.

I had a fab time in Albania with an amazing group of people. The scenery was breathtaking with wow moments when reaching the top of mountains and swimming in the clear turquoise waters. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the food in all the places was outstanding .

What a trip! I booked my very first trip with Much Better Adventures with a couple of my friends, and overall it was an amazing experience. The booking process was straightforward, with good communication throughout. There was a small mix-up with my room at the start, as I had paid extra for a private room but was initially placed in a shared one. However, this was quickly rectified by Igli, our wonderful host and guide. Igli truly made the trip special. He ensured we all had a fantastic time and communicated with the group really well throughout. The trip itself was incredible, with some challenging trails, as expected for a Level 3 adventure. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. My only small suggestion would be to allow a little more time at some of the quieter beaches, as they were so beautiful and peaceful. We were a fairly large group of 14, but we were very lucky as everyone got on so well. Everyone was genuinely kind and looked after one another, and we made some really lovely core memories together. One point I would like to highlight for future trips, more from a safety perspective than a complaint, was that we only had one walking guide for all 14 of us. As everyone had different walking abilities and paces, this meant Igli often had to go back and forth to make sure everyone was safe. Many of us felt it would have been better to have two guides from the beginning, one leading at the front and one supporting at the back, to ensure both safety and a more enjoyable experience for everyone. On Day 3, we were asked to pay an additional €30+ each for another guide. It wasn’t a problem for the group, but I do feel this should have already been included rather than being arranged last minute and left for the group to decide on. That said, a massive thank you to Igli, Tony our bus driver, and Leticia, who joined us later in the trip. They all helped make this such a memorable and special adventure. The food was on another level absolutely delicious! Albanian food completely exceeded my expectations. I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone considering exploring the beautiful Albanian coast.

Just returned from an amazing week, was really well organised and we felt secure and informed at all times. Accommodation was good, food was good and plentiful, hiking was good, people were lovely and Igli, the guide, was great. Only thing I would say, if you are looking for the 30’s-50’s solo travel MBA are aimed at - check your group demographic before you pick a date. 60% of our group were aged 55+, which slowed our pace not only on the hikes but over the whole week. This made for a relaxed holiday rather than an active one, everyone was lovely and a good vibe - but if you want adventure either check your group demographic first or pick a trip more than level 3.

First time in Albania and I loved the countryside walking, especially up in the hills with the goat herds and dogs; this felt like a truly authentic experience. Igli the guide was very informative and friendly, as was the driver Toni. As stated by other walkers, I did feel a bit disappointed about the second accommodation. The host was lovely but it was surrounded by a huge construction site, set back from the coast line. This was quite deflating to arrive to. Similarly, the fact we had to pay for an extra guide, when in reality the company should have provided one anyway, because the back of the group could have easily have been lost. So this meant a lot of standing and waiting at the front whilst the guide checked. Once we had another guide, the walking flowed better. Albania countryside is a great experience but I feel the coastal part of the itinerary could be improved.

This was genuinely the best trip I have ever been on! As a first-time solo traveler in her 20s, I was very happy with every aspect of this trip. Everything was so organized, the hotels and staff were very nice, the food was incredible, and our guid, Kreshnik, was so much better than you could imagine. Yes, he knew about all of the trails, but also the history of Albania! I got to ask so many questions! Even though I was the youngest, everyone else on the trip was so nice and considerate. Each day was well planned out, and if the weather became a problem, Kreshnik explained our options. No matter your hiking experience, this is the perfect trip for you! We hiked some of the most amazing trails with the best views I have ever seen, and still had time for a nice sit down dinner at the end of each day. I had so much fun and can’t wait to do another one!!

Nice trip. Walks fairly easy. Accommodation good albeit we were surrounded by building sites in Himare. Sadly I think it is difficult to avoid this given the amount of construction going along the coast of Albania. My main complaint about this trip was we only had one guide which does not work for a group of 14 people, particularly when the walking abilities within the group were hugely varied. At the end of day two, we were all asked to pay an additional 35 euros to get a second guide to ensure the safety of the group. I found this both disappointing and unacceptable as a solution. Those of us who didn’t agree were compelled to go along with it because the majority of the group wanted a second guide. The guide admitted this situation had arisen before so I would suggest they need to run the trip with two guides as standard. I also feel MBA should refund us the 35 euros.

  • Judy L.

My first trip with MBA did not disappoint! The itinerary was well planned and offered a perfect mix of hiking in mountains, swimming in sea. The accommodation was as promised and the food excellent. The communication before and during the trip was clear and helpful. Most importantly, the group was great fun and the tour guide was fantastic - he led at the right pace, making sure everyone was ok, and he was a great storyteller sharing much about Albanian history.

Fabulous week of walking along the Albanian coast and hills. Our guide Nik was extremley knowledgeable regarding the local areas and passionate about albanian culture and history. All in all a fantastic trip with a great guude.

Thank you for an amazing week of hiking in Albania - beautiful trails with olive groves, sea views, swims in lovely coves and bays…. exhilirating. We all love Kreshnik Cupi our guide - for his professionalism, story telling, kindness and looking out for each one of us, his fantastic sense of humour and knowing how to make this the most wonderful experience for us. The bus and our driver were also wonderful. The first hotel in Llogora was great!

  • STEPHEN T.

This hike was varied and well organised. The guide igli was a very calm person and extremely knowledgeable. The views from the mountains were breathtaking. The highlight was trekking in the footsteps of the goat and sheepherders. Truly magical to think this tradition is still going on. The country and the people have so much to offer. This was our first MBA trip and will not be the last

We all love Kreshnik Cupi our guide - for his professionalism, story telling, kindness and looking out for each one of us, his fantastic sense of humour and knowing how to make this the most wonderful experience for us. The bus and our driver were also wonderful. The first hotel in Llogora was great!

This was our first MBA trip and will not be the last
  • Great trip!

    Kelley I. May 2026
Albania was such an interesting place to visit - their 'recent' change to a capitalist government is fascinating and our guide, Igli, had so much knowledge he shared with us. The hikes were lovely, the weather was pretty much perfect and the food & accomodations were pleasant as well.

Pros Simple and effective booking process including airport transfers. Group hotels were superb and food mostly excellent Our lead guide, Iglii, and driver, Tony were superb. V professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Could have been better if: Guide to client ratio needs improving whilst in hills - 1:14 is not acceptable as any medical emergencies or lost party member would have been impossible to manage. Due to this, additional guides that had to be brought in should not have been at our cost but borne by the company. Itinerary would have been better if Himares Old Town/Castle had been included plus reducing the lost time travelling on Friday afternoon.

    Eleanor L. May 2026
This was my first solo adventure, I loved it and never felt alone. The group was a great mix of people. I paid a little extra for a single room and this was right for me. The walks are very good, hard work at times but plenty of breaks of were available. Our guide Tess was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Views were beautiful, scenery was varied and each walk was planned in different areas. Travelling in April was perfect as it wasn’t too hot and the flowers in the mountains were incredible. I will book with much better adventures again and explore another location.
  • An adventure like no other!

    Markus S. May 2026
Foremost, our guide, Tess, was terrific! She really tuned in with all the participants. The hikes and nature experienced were stunning, Tess effortlessly managed to hit the right pace for everyone involved, and truly managed to allow for the perfect amounts of breaks in between. All the participants were fabulous and very easy to get along with. One warning though, if you are afraid of heights, this trip might not be for you. Also, you need to be fairly fit, as the trails are somewhat challenging, especially descending on rocky paths. I am really glad for the experience, a memory that will stay with me forever.

A great week of hiking. The scenery was stunning, from mountains covered in spring flowers, cobblestoned villages to the rugged coastline. Our guide Tess was fantastic - she set the pace of the hikes perfectly, was very knowledgeable and patient.

    Laura L. May 2026
This tour absolutely exceeded expectations! The mountains and coastline of Albania are spectacular, and being there in spring meant wildflowers were in full bloom! Excellent accommodations and mostly excellent food throughout the trip, along with the camaraderie of fellow adventurers of all ages enhanced the experience. I wish I’d been advised to bring hiking poles, as several of the trails were extremely steep and rocky. Additionally, travelers should be aware that the coastal towns are undergoing extremely rapid and extensive development as tourism explodes in the country. I preferred the mountain hikes with views of the coast to the ones directly on the coast for that reason. Still, swimming in the crystal clear, turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea was marvelous! I definitely would recommend this vacation!

What a fabulous trip. Our guide Tess was a delight - professional, patient, knowledgable and read the group well, getting the pace just right. Albania is glorious , with its brooding mountains, covered in beautiful spring flowers in April and its stunning rugged coastline. It is definitely an up and coming area, good value and very welcoming people. The trip was very well organised and balanced I can recommend Much Better Adventures - I am taking a second trip with them in June!

Amazing scenery, really good guide (very friendly and helpful). I would reduce by half a star if I could – Albania is cheap and great but needs to up it’s game (too much under construction, too much waste, etc). If Albania got on top of it’s problems it would be 5 stars, no problem.

Great trip, great company, tremendous guide. . . thanks Tess for making it a truly memorable experience.
  • Fabulous Albania.

    Jonathan S. April 2026
Everything was so good. Weather. Views. The walks were paced perfectly. Right amount of breaks with beautiful spots to eat and appreciate your surroundings. What a fantastic country. Tess is so passionate about her country you can’t help but be enthused.
  • A wonderful trek

    Chloe S. April 2026
A fantastic 5 days of hiking. Igli was an incredible guide-he was engaging, knowledgeable and great at reading the vibe of the group. The scenery was stunning and we had such a wonderful group of humans. If you’re used to multi-day treks, none of the days were particularly challenging with plenty of time to enjoy the gorgeous landscape of southern Albania.

Had a great time with a great bunch of people . Hotels were fabulous and the food was awesome . Our Guide and driver were so friendly and helpful . Albania is an unspoilt beautiful country , definitely well worth visiting before it becomes over developed by tourists from the West .
  • Amazing Experience

    Matthew S. November 2025
The whole experience from start to finish in Albania was great! I throughly enjoyed the group tour dynamics with a fantastic group, that was brought together by both Blendi and Dennis as our guides. Each hike was unique, with some changes made due to the weather which worked well, and gave us the best chances to see all the fantastic scenery I was surprised by how beautiful the coast was with crystal clear water, and getting to have several chances to go into the sea welcome during and after the hikes The food was varied and delicious, with plenty of vegetarian options for some of the group. You definetly won’t go hungry on this trip! Our guides took the time to speak about the history of Albania, on the hikes and when we visited other places after the hikes. As someone who didn’t come into the tour with a lot of information it was great to hear this from the guides and learn about the country The trip is down as moderate and I think that was spot on, with a mix of steep inclines and declines, coastal roads, and countryside. We had excellent weather which made the hikes very enjoyable, and overall this is easily a 5 star trip!

An enjoyable week walking the costal trails of Albania. A variety of walks and terrains with a lovely mix of views and scenery. Our guide, Kreshnik, was excellent - well organised, loads of patience, made helpful intinerary adjustments which suited the group/weather/etc, and overall was outstanding. Jimmy, the driver, was a very good and safe driver, and a friendly smiling face.
  • Fantastic Trip!

    Leonie L. November 2025
A brilliant trip, fantastic walks and delicious food. We were looked after from start to finish; Blendi our guide and Dennis our driver were gentleman. Accommodation was comfortable and clean. I could not fault this trip. Book before too many people start to discover Albania!

Perfect combination of beautiful mountain and coastal walks, cool off swims, delicious food and interesting culture. The group, guide (Blendi) and local host company were great and I've returned feeling invigorated and excited to plan my next adventure. Thank you MBA
  • Wow Albania

    Rachel H. November 2025
This was my first MBA tour and I absolutely loved it. Albania was a hidden gem and it was lovely to be out by the sea, along the coast and in the mountains all at the same time. The group gelled so well and I laughed so much. It is nice to have a guide to take the thinking and stress out of a holiday and to be able to just enjoy the walks, food and good company!
  • Brilliant trip with beautiful scenery

    Jennifer M. October 2025
Our Albania trip was hard to beat! Kreshnik was a fantastic guide who clearly knew his stuff, making sure we were all ok with the timetables, foods etc. The hiking was challenging enough to feel like you’d worked out but never too difficult. We had a lovely group, the food was great - and the best part was that MBA organise everything for you.

Marta Marinelli, raised in Italy’s serene Prosecco Hills, dreamt of global adventures, inspired by her father's travel stories. Her passion evolved into a career, backed by a decade of studies including degrees in international tourism and destination management. She’s worked in the adventure travel sector since 2012, living in Italy, the UK, and now sunny Portugal.

Over twenty years, Marta has explored over 55 countries, visiting remote areas like Ghana, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Haiti and Nepal’s Upper Mustang region. As a Senior Adventure Expansion Manager at Much Better Adventures, she focuses on creating life-changing experiences, ranging from multi-activity adventures, challenging treks to ultimate adventures in iconic places. She loves the challenge of finding the best local adventure hosts around the world, collaborating on adventures that offer genuine immersion, pushing beyond the beaten path and working on exclusive itineraries that challenge your comfort zone.

What makes her tick? Enabling people to live adventure-rich lives while positively impacting and empowering local communities around the world, generating sustainable opportunities for both the host, guides, community, and the environment.

The little known Southern Coastal Trail stretches along 74 kilometres of Albania’s beautiful southern riviera (approx 4hrs south of Tirana), between the towns of Dhërmi almost all the way to Saranda. Although the area is mainly visited in summer with local and a few international tourists flocking to its dreamy beaches, the cultural heritage, panoramic trails and culinary traditions of this region can be best experienced along a spectacular multi-day trek from village to village and beach to beach. We've picked the best combination of routes for this trip, with incredibly varied scenery featuring rugged mountain peaks, spectacular coastal trails, secluded beaches, rocky shepherds' paths, terraced fields, olive groves and plenty of charming stone villages. Views of the seemingly endless blue sea contrasting with the backdrop of dramatic mountain ridges will accompany the trek throughout, and you'll have plenty of opportunities for refreshing swims in the Ionian Sea.

Tap water in Albania is generally not safe to drink. You may find purified water in some of the accommodation which you can use to fill up each morning, so be sure to pack a reusable water bottle or two. To avoid plastic waste where filtered water is not available, we suggest bringing water purification tablets (or an alternative purification system) for extra safety.

Overall, weather conditions down by the coast should be pretty favourable in the months when this trip is scheduled to run, with plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures ranging from 18 to 26°C on average. However, as always, Mother Nature is unpredictable so the best you can do is to be prepared for anything and come equipped with sunscreen, a hat and waterproofs. Your host will be monitoring the weather conditions during the course of the trip and may suggest alternative, safer routes or activities should the weather get particularly bad, or change the order and timings of the hikes. The Llogara National Park sits on alpine heights and forms a weather divide between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas; as such, the park is prone to rapid weather changes and cooler temperatures.

This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme highs, where limited shade and high humidity can also be a factor. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but hydration, proper clothing, and sun protection are essential.

Before travelling, consider your ability to be active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have concerns – especially if you have any cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two prior to the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.

The best time to hike in this region is in spring from March to mid-June, or in autumn between September and November when temperatures are milder, reaching daytime highs of 22-26°C. While Albania enjoys a great amount of sunshine, rain can be expected at any time of the year so you should be prepared for all eventualities. In Spring, the flowers are in full bloom and the greenery is striking, with slightly fresher water temperatures but the weather can be a little less stable. In Autumn the sea is warmer, although the daylight hours shorten and the night time temperatures start to lower. The mountainous region of the Llogara National Park is always cooler due to the higher altitude, with temperatures between 15-19 °C in spring and autumn and the possibility of stronger winds. Whilst villages and beaches are usually very busy in the months of July and August, exploring the region during spring and autumn will allow you to avoid the crowds and have the trails and villages almost to yourself – bliss!

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 279kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
