Itinerary

    Day 1

    First day, first waves

    Riad
    Twin share
    Show Day 1 detail

Meet your host in Agadir and get whisked away to your traditional Moroccan Riad in Tamraght in Taghazout Bay; a legendary surf hot spot. Settle in and meet your crew for sundowners and dinner.

    Day 2

    Surf, eat, sleep, repeat

    Surfing
    4-6hrs
    Riad
    Twin share
    Breakfast and lunch included
    Show Day 2 detail

Take breakfast in the tranquil courtyard each morning and then head out to another legendary local surf spot. Your host will drive you to the best beach for the day’s conditions so you always have prime waves to catch.

Each day will be spent surfing all morning in sparkling blue water backed by vivid red hills. Fuelled by groundswells in the north Atlantic, these waves travel thousands of miles to produce the conditions Taghazout is famous for – from sandy-bottomed beginners’ waves, to long, glassy point breaks. After a picnic lunch on the beach (and maybe a nap in the shade) you can paddle back out for more practice. Then, as the sun gets lower in the sky head, back to your riad to shower off the salt. Stretch out your muscles with an optional sunset yoga session (at additional cost), then explore the town and have dinner in one of Taghazout’s many excellent restaurants.

    Day 3

    Last day in surfing paradise

    Surfing
    4-6hrs
    Breakfast and lunch included
    Show Day 3 detail

Linger over another delicious breakfast, hone your skills with a final morning lesson and then spend the afternoon carving some glassy waves as you admire the postcard-perfect Moroccan landscape. Then, after catching a last ride back into the beach it’s time to clean up and catch your flight home.

Trip level explained

Level 3

Moderate

This trip is most suitable for beginner surfers who want to learn some basic surf skills and work on their technique. Your instructor will adjust every lesson to suit your skill level. The only requirement is that you can swim and tread water. There is a huge variety of surf in this area of Morocco all year round - from mellow beginner waves, to challenging reef ledges. Due to the varied nature of the coastline there is almost always somewhere sheltered and manageable, but those looking for a challenge won’t be disappointed either.

Each morning will start with a surf lesson where you’ll learn the proper stance, how to paddle, turn, pop up and keep your speed, as well as surf etiquette, safety and how to read the beach (waves, rips and currents.) After that you’re free to enjoy the waves and practise at your leisure for the rest of the day and your hosts will monitor from the beach.

What if i need to skip an activity?

Taghazout Bay is primarily a surfing destination, however, there are still plenty of other things to do. You can hike in Paradise Valley, experience a hammam, practice your yoga, or shop in the souks to name just a few.

Climate Factors To Consider

This trip visits locations where daytime temperatures can be extremely high during the times of year when this trip operates. High humidity and limited access to shade can also be factors, and warm temperatures can continue into the nighttime, which additionally influence the body’s ability to cool down. Personal care should be taken to keep as cool as possible in the conditions, such as wearing appropriate clothing and proper hydration. Very high temperatures can impair an individual’s physical abilities to perform an activity that they may otherwise be able to do competently at cooler temperatures. People may experience symptoms associated with dehydration and Heat Stroke. Your guide(s) are trained to mitigate the risks associated with high temperatures, by carefully managing the intensity of the activity, and to provide the appropriate support response should someone feel ill during the trip. Should you experience health issues during your trip you should inform your guide immediately so the proper care can be provided.

Great surfcamp with amazing people, very good coaches, and delicious food throughout the day. The evening meals were especially great, but breakfast and lunch were also really good. The riad was beautiful, with a nice pool and lots of cute cats around. I even managed to stand up a few times while surfing! Unfortunately, one day surfing wasn’t possible and another day the conditions were very difficult, but overall it was a really fun and memorable experience.

What a week! I met lovely people, learned how to surf, enjoyed amazing food, and petted more cats than I could dream of. The surf instructors were lovely and very helpful, and gave me a lot of confidence. To top everything up, I found myself a new travel bestie, and we will be booking more MBA trips together! Could not recommend this enough :)

This was only my second time surfing so I was basically a complete beginner. The whole adventure was very well run, from the accommodation to the surf instruction. Courtney, Haitam and the rest of the team do an incredible job and the Mint Surf Riad is a fantastic place to stay. Each day was started with breakfast, then we travelled out to the best beach depending on the surf conditions. After a morning of instruction, we'd stop for lunch before going out to surf independently, albeit under supervision from Haitam and the other instructors. Around mid-afternoon we'd return to the Riad and the rest of the day would be ours to do with as we please. The town we were based in, Tamraght, is pretty small with a nice beach, and Agadir and Tagazhout are both a short taxi ride away. We were taught with 7' foamies, which for me took some getting used to as my first time surfing was with a 9' longboard. You will get the hang of it as long as you listen to the instructor's advice and really go for it. On day 1 I only got one sketchy pop-up, but by day 5 I was popping up successfully and semi-consistently. The progression is real and the Mint Surf instructors are excellent at what they do. As an added bonus hundreds of photographs are taken during the lessons to records all of your progress, and the occasional wipeout, and you will wipe out several times. The meals included were great, especially the dinners which aren't included in the price and cost extra but are well worth it. The rooms in the Riad were clean and spacious and WiFi is provided. There was also a pool and Yoga classes, if that's your sort of thing. (Not for me) There's loads of common areas for relaxing and socialising and the overall atmosphere was friendly and convivial. This was my first proper surf camp and I loved every second of it. My first time surfing ignited my intrest in the sport, but this trip cemented my love for it. Don't hesitate in booking this trip, you will NOT regret it.

Can’t recommend this trip highly enough. Everything about it met and exceeded expectations. Thanks to Courtney our local host everything was so easy and enjoyable.

I had an amazing week in Morocco learning how to surf with Much Better Adventures – and once again, it was a fantastic experience with them. From the very beginning, the vibe was great, with a super fun, relaxed and open group of people that made the trip even more special. The weather in January was absolutely lovely and the perfect escape from the cold winter in Europe. Spending the days at the beach, outdoors in the sunshine, was exactly what I needed. Yes: wiggling into a cold, wet wetsuit is a little uncomfortable for about two minutes, but then you completely forget about it because the surf, the sun and the whole experience are simply amazing. The riad where we stayed was cozy and welcoming, a perfect place to relax and sit together in the evenings, share stories and laugh after long days in the water. There were also lots of super cute animals around: dogs and cats everywhere, always ready for a cuddle, which made the place feel even more special and warm. The room itself wasn’t luxurious, but it was comfortable and cozy, and totally fit the relaxed and authentic atmosphere of the stay. The surf coaches were truly great: funny, kind, professional and incredibly motivating. They really did their best to help everyone improve, encouraged us from the very first wave and made learning to surf both fun and confidence-boosting. Thanks to them, getting up on the board felt achievable and exciting rather than intimidating. In the evenings we often went out to eat in Taghazout, which was close by and easy to reach and it was always a highlight: great food, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful sunsets and good company. Overall, it was just a wonderful experience: surfing, being outdoors all day, enjoying the sunshine, great conversations, and sharing it all with a lovely group of people. I would absolutely recommend this trip, and Much Better Adventures once again delivered an unforgettable adventure. 🌊:woman-surfing:

Loved this trip. Went from beginner surfer to being able to get up on waves pretty consistently by the end of the week so I was delighted. Tagazhout is a great location with lovely scenery and great restaurants. Beaches were really nice with good beginner surf. Surf instructors were knowledgeable and helpful.

Great week spent in Morocco. , Lovely accommodation, brilliant surfing, amazing food. Cannot fault anything about the trip.

What an amazing week. From the warm welcome by Courtney as we arrived at the riad to the crazy fun surf lessons with Haitam and back for cuddles with the cats and dogs of the road. I’ve had such a blast. I’m ever amazed that when I come on MBA trips somehow the groups just seem to work so well and everyone gets on. (Maybe just good luck?) I loved the pace of this trip. We had lessons in the morning followed by relaxed afternoons dictated by the weather. Being flexible with the plans wasn’t an issue for Haitam and the team. Everyone was super friendly and the food was next level! Definitely recommend!

  • Jessica M.

Had a fantastic week away surfing. Courtney, the instructors and the rest of the Mint Surf team looked after us really well and create a very chilled and friendly vibe throughout. The food and yoga are also great, really great value for money all round. Highly recommend and I'd love to go back one day.

  • Joshua L.

Overall, the trip has been great - following an initial lesson and ongoing mentoring, it was great fun learning to surf, combined with the twice daily yoga available, tasty and filling food provided, cosy accommodation and a good number of extra activities that were also thrown into our trip - it was an enjoyable trip that also matched the price point of what you pay. However, a few areas let the trip down slightly, with those being: a lack of initial introductions as to who our hosts were or the people teaching us to surf, do yoga etc, alongside a lack of communication regarding what we were doing each day, where we were going each/the next day and what to pack or bring… finally, and the biggest issue - this is NOT a small group adventure trip as advertised. In short, while you’ll be with a group of people who have booked onto the trip via MBA, this is a much larger surf camp where there may be 50 or so students involved and mixed up with the activities - while this can also be nice to meet new people, it does also reduce the personal-touch that a small group trip brings, along with the hosts being able to be as flexible to the needs/requests of your specific group. Overall this was and is an enjoyable trip I’d recommend to others to go on, but just be aware that it’s unlikely to be a ‘small group adventure’ and that you may need to be forward in asking who people are, what’s happening or what’ll you’ll need to bring along each day. As a side note, a big shout out to Haitom for being a great host despite being allocated to another group during our trip; the guy is a legend and goes above and beyond everyday for his guests.

  • 10/10 surf trip

    Anna C. October 2025
The riad was homely, comfortable, and really well organised — it felt super safe and welcoming. Yoga with Jaycee every morning and evening was the perfect way to start and round off each day. She was absolutely excellent — calm and encouraging. A huge shoutout to Haitam, who went above and beyond to make sure we explored the local area and got the most out of our time there. He was so generous with his time and energy. Yiannis was such a dedicated surf instructor — patient, reassuring, and really made me feel at ease in the water. Haitam, Yiannis, and Samad were all fantastic — great teachers and just lovely people to spend time with. The packed lunches always hit the spot after a surf session and plenty for everyone. It was also a really nice touch having photographers there each day to capture our attempts (good and bad!). Thanks as well to Courtney, whose pre-trip information was really thorough and made everything super easy. The organisation around airport transfers was seamless — getting everyone collected and dropped off at different times was no problem at all. All in all, a brilliant experience — 10/10 would recommend, and I’m already thinking about going back!
  • Great week

    Kate S. October 2025
Had a fantastic time learning to surf. The instructors were all great and shout out to Haitam who went above and beyond organising extra items for us and taking us to places. The surfing was relatively physically hard but rewarding and you could take breaks at the beach. The riad was gorgeous and the pool was a nice addition. Dinner was delicious every night. Overall an amazing experience especially as an introduction to Morocco.
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible surf experience – exceeded all expectations!

    Ben T. October 2025
I recently spent five days on a learn-to-surf holiday with Mint Surf, and it completely blew my expectations away. From the moment I arrived, the experience felt effortless, welcoming, and beautifully put together. Courtney, our host, was absolutely fantastic — friendly, organised, and always on hand to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. The surf instructors were all brilliant: knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping each of us progress no matter our level. Every session felt fun and confidence-building, with plenty of personal guidance and encouragement. The accommodation was charming, comfortable, and authentically styled — full of character and perfectly suited to the relaxed surf vibe. The courtyard and pool area were gorgeous; a peaceful, sun-soaked haven to unwind after a day in the waves. What really stood out was the sense of community and connection — both with the instructors and the other guests. Everything felt easy, genuine, and uplifting. I came away not just with better surfing skills, but with amazing memories and a real sense of having discovered something special. I can’t recommend Mint Surf highly enough. It’s the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and warm hospitality. I’m already counting down the days until I can go back!

Things that make this trip 5 stars (not in any particular order): - The Riad accomodation is amazing, mosaic sink, swimming pool, table tennis, several chill out areas, roof terrace! - Surf Instructors ultra friendly/supportive, Haitam, Yunis and Samad were basically friends as well as instructors! - Ultra tasty food, different meals every day cooked by Moroccan cooks - Super organised host, Courtney answers any questions you have quickly and made sure every part of trip runs smoothly, even for other expeditions you might do outwith the schedule, to airport transfers etc etc If you are on the fence, just book it and you wont regret :)
  • Amazing experience

Miss them already would go back anytime to surf with them again. FYI 5 days of surfing straight can be tough. .

shout out to MBA and Courtenay and team at Mint Surf💦👍 Brilliant week. Sun, fun. . ok, so more time off the surf board than on in my case😅 but I knew it'd be fun trying. The surf tuition was the best, Mint Surf Riad and food were excellent. . we even got to prepare the tagines ourselves one day. Oh - camel tagine was a definite food highlight. Oh, and did I mention sand surfing on the dunes?. . . . . Now, I'm 60 years old, and I had a blast - proof that you should just run with your ambitions, book with a great company (MBA) and just Go For It👍👍💦

Been on a few MBA’s now and this was to the same fantastic standard. Everything from pick-up to drop-off was fantastic. The attention to detail and support from Courtney , Haitam and the rest of the team was five star. Group dynamic was excellent I have no doubt that I will return for more once I give my body some rest!

Been on a few trips of this style with other companies and this was my favourite one yet. Courtney is an amazing host creating somewhere that feels so homely. The surf instructors are friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable. Rooms are lovely, theres a little pool and a great place to hang out on the roof. Food is great and the optional yoga is so relaxing after a long day. Truly represents good value for money. They went the extra mile as a few of us had birthdays so they sang to us with candles. Always felt safe walking around in Tamraght and when staff took us for extra activities like visiting a market. The staff really went the extra mile showing us nice places to visit and even spent some evenings with us having meals or chatting until it was bed time on the roof. So impressed. All staff were happy and helpful which shows how lovely of a place it is. I found the surfing difficult but had a lot of encouragement. The Riad is in a good location with a short walk to a pretty beach, local shops to buy souvenirs and cafes/ restaurants to get drinks and cakes. We had great weather with 30 degree heat despite it being December! I highly recommend this trip. The group that booked through MBA were lovely, we got on so well. The surf camp is a popular place to stay with some visiting multiple times a year so there was always someone to chat to.

Beautifully authentic Riad near the Moroccan coast with friendly cats and dogs meandering throughout. The host Courtney was very friendly and informative and all of the staff were excellent. The food was excellent and local with a good variety throughout, including the packed lunches on the beach. The surfing instructors brought excellent energy and enthusiasm non-stop and went out of their way to enrich the experience whenever we weren’t on the waves. For people wanting to learn how to surf and see a little of Morocco, this is a brilliant trip.

FAQs

Ramadan is expected to take place from 17th February to 19th March 2026. The national holiday of Eid ul-Fitr will follow for 2-3 days. Ramadan is an Islamic festival where the religious do not eat or drink during daylight hours. While this is a really interesting time to travel, especially to witness celebrations where the fast is broken in the evenings, you can expect some business hours will be shortened, alcohol is not permitted during daylight hours and some restaurants will be closed during this festival period. Activities for local people tend to be limited during the day and the nights are very active in cities with lots of different foods being sold and consumed. Ramadan will not affect the inclusions on your trip, although you should be aware that if you'd like to drink alcohol, your host recommends that you bring duty free with you.

Tap water is OK for washing and brushing teeth, but it is not recommended for drinking. Bottled mineral water is cheap and available everywhere. Alternatively you can bring a water purifier and help keep plastic out of the ocean.

There will be one instructor to every eight surfers on your trip.

You may read reports about a sewage problem in Taghazout online. Recent works in the area have seen the installation of a sewage system for the town, which is fully operational now. This means that surf camps in the area are all reporting a significant drop in stomach illness coming out of COVID. However, we still suggest to follow some basic hygiene rules and remain very careful of sunstroke, because that can equally cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea:

Wash your hands with soap thoroughly before every meal, stay away from random street food or other restaurants without recommendation if you don't know the hygienic conditions, and wear sun protection.

This trip operates in areas where daytime temperatures can reach extreme highs, where limited shade and high humidity can also be a factor. These conditions can affect physical performance and increase the risk of dehydration or heat-related illness. Your guide will adjust the pace and monitor the group closely, but hydration, proper clothing, and sun protection are essential.

Before travelling, consider your ability to be active in high temperatures and consult a medical professional if you have concerns – especially if you have any cardiovascular or heat-sensitive conditions. Arriving a day or two prior to the trip may help you adjust gradually to the heat.

For customers joining this trip from other international destinations – please also read the official travel advice applicable to your country of residence/origin, as this may differ.

We recommend checking out the country-specific information and also talking to a travel nurse.

We automatically convert prices from the local currency that a host receives to your chosen currency. We update our exchange rates on a daily basis so this does mean that prices displayed on the site are subject to currency fluctuations, which is why you may see them change over time.

With more than 300 days of sunshine, Morocco is a year-round destination and you’re unlikely to encounter rain. The summer months see warm temperatures (air 20 – 30 °C; sea 18 – 21 °C) and small to medium swells. Winter months have cooler but very pleasant temperatures (air 18 – 26 °C; sea 16 – 20 °C) and the biggest waves.

We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity.

What's the number?
It works out on average at 314kg of CO2 emissions per person, including all local transport, accommodation, food, activities, guides, staff and office operations.

The only thing it doesn’t include right now is flights and travel to the destination. We do make an overall estimate across all our customers separately, but as we don’t book flights, have customers from all corners of the world, and no way of reliably knowing their travel plans, we simply can’t include an individual number in the figure on display here. We’ve got a goal to fix that, so that when you book, there is a way to measure and mitigate the carbon emitted by your flight too.

But what does the number mean?
Yep, hard to picture eh? To give you an idea:

  • Driving 1000 miles/1609km would be approximately 281kg of CO2 in an average car (or 140.5kg per person, if there were two of you in it).
  • A return economy class flight between London and New York would be approximately 1619kg (1.66 tonnes) per person.
  • 10 trees in a temperate forest are estimated to remove approximately 250kg of CO2 from the air in a period of 5-10 years.

What are we doing about it?
Our trips are relatively low-carbon by design, and we're working with all our hosts to develop long term carbon reduction plans. We partner with the World Land Trust to ensure this trip achieves Net-Zero emissions. We also support their Buy an Acre programme, helping local communities to buy and protect natural habitats in perpetuity, ensuring the protection of the reserve and its wildlife.

Want to know more?
Amazingly, no international travel company has ever publicly published their carbon measurements before, as far as we know. We believe that must change, quickly. So we’re openly sharing the method we used in the hope that other companies will be able to more easily follow suit and build on what we've done so far. You'll find it all here.
