Sail and Explore Greek Islands

I’m no good at sitting still. Was my only worry before setting sail, with 4/5 hours stated as some of the sailing time between hours - well that was not a problem, those aboard spent time chatting, reading, dolphin (and turtle!) spotting, admiring the landscape - getting to know each other and our skipper Dimitris, who was fantastic, available to answer any question about sailing, the Greek islands, food, Greece and etc etc - he looked after us so well, ensuring we knew the local history, which bakery’s and tavernas to try out! On your last night, if you are dubious about dropping anchor and eating aboard instead of dining out, honestly do it - it was super special - you don’t have to cook, plenty to offer in the way of Meze from super markets. The trip was truly relaxing, I had been pondering it for probably a year - my only advice would be to bring sea sickness tablets if you’ve never sailed and stay on deck if you feel queezy - for some reason it’s better 🤷‍♂️- otherwise JFDI and book this, you won’t regret it.

Had such an amazing time crushing the islands with skipper Dimitris and a crew of new friends. The trip was well organized, with a really terrific itinerary, and Dimitris was a truly wonderful, kind, and passionate guide to the islands. From the food, the people, and of course the seascapes and scenery, this trip exceeded all of my expectations. Thank you!

This was a dream holiday for me, slightly scuppered by passports problems which meant I joined a couple of days later than planned. But I am so glad that I did, even having a couple of days sailing was worth the stress and hassle we had to endure. It is so peaceful out on the seas and the islands we visited were stunning. Our captain, Dimitris, was ace. He had everything under control and was kind and patient. He knew the area well and took us to some local tavernas, one of which served us the best meal I've had for a very long time!! Boat was more spacious and comfortable than expected, we had to motor a lot due to the wind and one crossing was quite rough but manageable. Would recommend

Magical trip through some quiet and stunningly beautiful islands. Our captain, Dimitris, was amazing and so knowledgeable. He paid extra attention to be sure that all dietary restrictions were accommodated and always had the perfect recommendation ready. We were so lucky to have him show us a small part of his country.

If you’re planning on going in April, dress appropriately. The weather in Greece leading up to the sail was beautiful and warm… until sailing day. Admittedly, I was not prepared! Luckily our first island stop had a few shops open with windbreakers, sweats, socks etc. once bundled up, the experience was amazing. The seas were sometimes rough, so bring seasickness pills even if you don’t think you’ll need them. There was 5 in our group which I thought was perfect for the size of the boat. Cramped bunks and wet heads, but it’s all an adventure. I couldn’t imagine having to share a bed with a stranger, but I’m 50. It’s probably fine for younger adventurers. We cooked lunches and ate dinner at tavernas on the islands we visited. Ilias, our skipper was very knowledgeable and kept us safe in rough seas. I never felt nervous and I had a good understanding of the lines and what do by the end of it. You can participate and learn or sit back and relax.

Greece is beautiful! Being on a sailing boat is the best, discovering the islands was great, the food was great and the group was amazing! The trip was just amazing, highly recommend. Our schipper was however only a schipper, he brought us from location to location safely and that was about it. We didn't learn much about sailing or our surroundings. I don't know if that was the intention of the trip, to not have a tourguide, but that was how it was. I would give the trip a 3,5 rating because of it.

The tour was just as advertised. We were right at the end of the season so the weather was mild and winds were light. It meant more motoring than sailing but we did get in at least one full day of sailing. We also had a day of strong winds which meant a change of itinerary, but it was quite rough anyway. Here’s a hint - take your seasickness pills. Don’t leave them in your bag. The change meant we were in Syros and saw the parades for the Greek national day. We ate marvellous food in the tavernas and fairly good food we cooked ourselves. Swimming in secluded bays surrounded by fish was nice. We had no trouble with sleeping arrangements or transport and the group of people on the tour was a good mix and we got along well. All up, I really enjoyed this trip and will certainly be back for another. What next? E-biking? Ice-swimming? We’ll see…

An absolute mast if you want to see the less touristy parts of Greece, slow down a bit and really get to know your fellow MBA travellers. Highlight for me was swimming to an island and doing a wee hike up to Athena’s temple, and down to an amphitheatre - the acoustics were incredible and we were the only ones there. Fotis our skipper was great at teaching us more about Greek food and showed us all the good snorkelling spots.

I had a fantastic time on Sail and Explore Greek Islands tour. The boat and cabin was clean and comfortable. The sailing days were safe and well run. Our captain, Orestis, was very knowledgeable and an put in a lot of effort make sure were having an great journey. The marinas and bay where we stay were excellent. The food was wonderful. Overall a great adventure.

I went on this trip mid-October. The weather was pretty good - warm enough to swim and explore the islands, but not too hot that sleeping on the boat was uncomfortable. It was cooler than I thought when actually sailing, most of us wore pants and long sleeves during the actual sailing as the wind was cool. The skipper was excellent in terms of teaching us what we wanted to know about sailing and providing advice re seasickness. He also made suggestions for each day based on the weather forecast. My only comment is that if you have dietary restrictions, the meals on the islands (mostly dinners) will have limited vegan options as almost everything had cheese and all the mains were very meat heavy. So I suggest you bring or buy snacks you know you can eat. There were 7 in our group and that was a good number, I can't imagine how this trip would work with 10 or 12 sleeping on the boat!
